Throughout the day your face comes into contact with all sorts of different substances all the while your skin has been secreting oil. Now the real question is.. why would you want to go to bed with all of that build up on your face? You wouldn’t.
Below you will find the steps towards giving your skin the best nighttime skincare routine out there! Taking great care of your skin is as important at night as it is during the day. Just imagine the benefits you could be raking in while you sleep!
1. REMOVE MAKEUP
It is important that you always take ALL of your makeup off at night before you go to bed. This will help you to prevent breakouts that may occur from clogged pores on your face.
In order to have clear, healthy skin it is important that you wash your face before bed so that you can wash away not only the day’s dirt and oil but your own personal daily skin products as well. Cleaning your face before bed will help prevent clogged pores and the build up of dead skin cells on your skin’s surface.
We recommend using the Clarisonic cleansing brush along with a facial cleanser that is suitable for your skin type. But be gentle! You want to remove the dirt and debris without causing excess damage to your skin.
Clogged pores are the direct cause of excess dirt and oil resting on your face. To de-clog your pores at home try either applying steam directly to your face by stepping into a hot and steamy shower or applying a warm towel on your face. It will feel great and it will do the trick! However, we insist that you never put your face directly into hot water as that exposure will damage the surface of your skin. For even more pampering, we suggest one of our several facials! Simply choose the best one for your skin type and discover relaxation like never before all while gaining a seriously deep cleanse.
Exfoliate your skin twice a week to minimize the clogging of pores on your skin. Be gentle as excessive scrubbing has the tendency to damage the skin and dry out our face’s skin. With the harsher lux climate of Las Vegas, exfoliate four times a week since the heat causes more sweat and oil secretion than in other climates.
Hydrators act as plumping devices as they soften the appearance of lines on the face, leaving you with a much smoother texture. Chose a hydrating overnight mask that contains water and glycerin! This will increase your skin’s ability to retain water thus allowing it to regain its’ plumpness and remain plump throughout the day.
Toners actively work to remove leftover makeup and eliminate dirt on the skins’ surface. Always, always, always make sure you are using a toner suitable for your skin type.
Moisturizers are incredibly important as they help to protect your skin from several environmental stressors such as; dryness, irritation, chapping, and redness. They vary depending on skin type, body location and time of day. So make sure that you choose the proper moisturizer for your skin’s needs, for nighttime, and for your face specifically. If you have oily skin, use a lighter moisturizer and if you have dry skin, use a heavy moisturizer. Evening moisturizers lack the sunscreen that daytime moisturizers include, therefore they tend to not be as aesthetically pleasing. However, that doesn’t mean that they are less important, they still have the same acting ingredients to make your skin supple and soft.
8. APPLY NIGHT CREAM TREATMENTS
ACNE: use cleansing and correction products.
WRINKLES/AGING: use a cleanser that contains retinol or peptides.
DRY SKIN: use a hydrating cleanser for the face specifically.
9. SLEEP ON YOUR BACK
Did you know that applying pressure on your face by sleeping on your side can cause wrinkles? It’s true! Sleeping on your back not only takes the pressure off of your face but it allows for proper blood flow to your face as well. Also, be sure to sleep for at least 8 hours to ensure that you wake up well-rested and extra-rejuvenated.
